General recommendations / recommandations générales
First of all, this new house is still a work in progress, so there are still things to be completed especially in our garden but we enjoy it so much, that we hope it will be the same for you.
THE DOORS
- Keep the door of the garden closed even when you are in the house so you’ll be free to move from the insde to the ouside.
- The front door (door of the house) is a bit tricky to open or close sometimes because it is supposed to be well inserted in the door mecanism. So when you are outside, pull the door towards yourself to turn the key (to open or close). And when you are inside, push it to turn the key. SEE VIDEO The entrance doors video
- Both doors should be closed when you are leaving.
- Keep the door the of kitchen closed (you can open the window of the door of course) since the deck is not built yet. It is safer especially with children. If you open if to pass dishes to the garden, make the the above window is closed. SEE VIDEO The kitchen window video
- The garage door has a very rudimentary lock but it works well !
THE WINDOWS (SEE VIDEO)
- Manipulate nicely : almost all of them are tilt and turn windows so when you are movong from one position to another make sure you star from the closed position.
o From the shut position, turn the handle to the ceiling direction to tilt it
o , turns the handle to the side to open it
o , turn the handle to the floor to close it.
- Make sure they are ALL closed when you are leaving the house.. You can leave some of them open in a « tilt position » to allow somz fresh air into the house. Don’t forget the windows of the children’s floor.

THE KITCHEN
- Just one thing : be cautions with the countertop (workplan ?). Don’t use knives on it. We use wood chopping boards. And don’t leave too long on it food with incredible colors like red beets (excellent in summer !!) or carrot juice (healthy). It may leave stains… The counter of the kitchen island is not fragile.
THE LIVING-ROOM
- We chose to cover the leather sofa and the armchair to avoid accident.
PARENTS ROOM
- Our kids love trampoline but we told them that our bed was not one 😉
BATHROOMS (PARENTS’ AND CHILDREN’S)
- The workplans are in wood, we ar fond of them but they need attention : they sneeze when they a re wet ! More seriously, we varnished them and yet they remain reactive with too much water on them. Long lasting water on it end up penetrating the surface ! So we use clothes that we’ll leave at you disposal. They are of course sensitive to hair coloration products, nail polish remover…
TOILETS OF THE 1rst FLOOR
- Sometimes the water keeps dripping after flushing, just repress the button you’ve just pushed. Brand new and flawed :-/
CLEANING PRODUCTS FOR THE HOUSE
- We use Bleach (eau de Javel in French) ONLY in the toilets. DON’T USE IT anywhere else.
THE GARBAGE COLLECTION
- Yellow bins (recycles except glass) : out monday nigth for the collect on thuesday mornings
- Brown bins (everyday garbage) : out on sunday nights, thuesdays nights and thursdays nights for a collect on monday mornings, wednesday morning and friday mornings
- Glass : leave it outside and we'll do it. Otherwise there a glass deposit at the corner of rue Jean Jaures and rue Gabriel Péri (see drawing)
